I do apologise for the lack of information contained in this page.
Wondering how NERC will affect your enjoyment of the countryside? Then click here to find out.
RUPPs a
potted history.
The Countryside Liaison Officer (Rights of Way Officer) for the Wye and Welsh Land Rover Club is
Dan Lewis. He
can be contacted via the e-mail page.
LARA (Land Access and Recreation Association) champions our right to use
motorised vehicles in the country.
Tim Stevens has been nominated as Vice Chairman of the Welsh NAF (National
Access Forum). Tim has asked for quotable figures regarding
"motorsport" spending in Welsh rural communities. This is to back up
arguments for the re-opening of Monk's Trod. He would also like to receive any
information of tracks used either end of Monk's Trod so that he can argue that it
is or can be used as a valuable link route.
If you have taken part in or know
about any voluntary maintenance work that has been carried out on any rights of
way could you please contact Tim giving him chapter and verse so that he can
speak with confidence in discussions with HAs, etc..
GLASS (Green Lane Association) an organisation in the front line of fighting to keep green lanes open for our enjoyment. Go on click the link and see what they are up to on your behalf.
Baker report update Please click on the link and do what you feel is right. Our events are at stake here. Looks like we may have won this battle for now but watch out as these thing have a habit of coming back at us from a different angle.
LAF (Local Access Forum). Under legislation brought about by the CRoW act all
local authorities have to set up a Local Access Forum. These are like committees
and are made up of people who either live in the authorities area or have a substantial
interest in local access within that authorities area. The members are
individuals but when they are chosen their contact base is considered, which
means that interested organisations get represented due to that contact base. In
other words the person on the forum is not chosen because they represent an
organisation. Having said this the authority does have an obligation to ensure a
fair balance of interests is represented.
If you have an interest in access to the countryside (which is not necessarily
an interest in rights of way) and would like to be considered for membership of
a LAF then contact your local authority and ask if places are available. We
would like to have the interests of the motorised users of the countryside
represented in all areas (this means England as well as Wales). Meetings are
held quarterly (this can vary depending on the area) and can be held during the
day but it is down to the Forum members to set frequency and times. Out of
pocket expenses can be claimed back as money has been made available for this
purpose.
